A lady’s curiosity is never satisfied. You may find yourself wondering, “What do fishing, foraging, and fine dining have in common?” – They’re the features of an ultimate weekend getaway hosted by Cloudy Bay wine at the award-winning and breath-taking Driftwood Hotel, Portscatho.
Created in 1985 at the northern end of New Zealand’s South Island, Cloudy Bay was one of the first five established wineries in Marlborough and quickly became recognised as a benchmark producer of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. The Cloudy Bay portfolio includes Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Te Koko, Pelorus Brut, Pelorus Rose and Riesling.
Now Cloudy Bay is reaching out to wine lovers to join them at the stylish Driftwood Hotel and engage in a bit of adventure. Passionate about utilizing local, edible ingredients in their wines, the vintners chose the lush locale of South Cornwall to educate in pairing local, fresh, and foraged food with their wines from Te Koko to Chardonnay.
Start the luxurious weekend breathing fresh air while foraging for ingredients such as berries, nettles, or wild mushrooms in the natural beauty of the region. Take a rest from your scavenging with a woodland picnic featuring the wines of Cloudy Bay with menu items from the Driftwood Hotel. Next, take to the sea, heading out with expert local fishermen for a lesson. Their reeling techniques are sure to bring you the catch of the day. Return to land and learn how to put your findings to best use. A master class of cooking with the Driftwood Hotel’s Michelin-starred chef, Chris Eden will incorporate the ingredients guests have foraged and fished for into preparing a scrumptious meal.
The weekend is tied off with a four-course meal, each course paired with wine from Cloudy Bay’s superb selection. Return home refreshed, relaxed, with a greater knowledge of nature, plate and palette. Lessons you can bring home to your own table. Your appetite surely satisfied; your curiosity– never.
